They Had Me at Meow is a Tribute to Homeless Cats

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, January 20, 2010 /Books PR News/ -- They Had Me at Meow: Tails of Love from the Homeless Cats of Buster Hollow is a collection of photos and funny poignant stories about a colony of homeless cats that award-winning author Rosie Sorenson discovered in her neighborhood over 13 years ago. The book, for which Sorenson won a 2009 Muse Medallion Award from the International Cat Writers' Association, describes how the relationship with her beloved Buster Hollow cats changed Sorenson's life, helping her cope with a succession of serious medical problems.

The book has received endorsements from animal welfare organizations such as The Humane Society of the United States and Alley Cat Rescue as well as from Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson, best selling author who writes about the human-animal bond, and film and television actor, Ed Asner. It is available at http://www.theyhadmeatmeow.com/index.html. A recent TV interview of Rosie discussing her book and also trap, neuter and release (TNR) is available on her site.

"They Had Me at Meow is a tribute to all homeless cats and a reminder that every animal, regardless of his or her circumstances, is remarkable and deserving of love," said Sorenson. "I wrote the book to as a way to thank the cats for letting me into their lives as well as to inspire others to help. The rewards have been quite surprising."

Readers of They Had Me at Meow are offered an intimate glimpse into the lives of many of the cats in Sorenson's group. Among them is Turtleman, who Sorenson eventually took into her home. Also featured are Buster, and Thelma (pictured on the cover) and Louise - who found homes with the help of a cat rescue group - and more. Readers also will learn through Sorenson's own experiences what a person can do to trap, neuter and return homeless cats, and to provide them with daily care.

The book includes a Frequently Asked Questions about feral cats, including where they live, how people care for them and what someone can do to get involved.

For anyone who is involved with homeless cats, this is a wonderful book to reaffirm why you do what you do. It also makes a lovely gift for cat-loving friends and is a great resource for animal welfare groups to use in helping the public understand and come to care about them.

You can find about more about They Had Me At Meow at http://www.theyhadmeatmeow.com/index.html with information about how to purchase. Sorenson is actively working with cat rescue groups to raise money for them from the sales of her book. She is available for readings and book signings.
