Former Homeless Man Promotes a Better Economic Bailout Plan
A former homeless man, Dr. Carlton Young, seeks to help those who have recently lost homes and jobs. He will be a guest this week on Allwrite Radio on Blog Talk Radio and make other appearances around the country.
ATLANTA, GA, February 11, 2010 /Books PR News/ -- Amidst the worst housing crisis in U.S. history, a former homeless man says the most effective modification is in the minds of those facing the loss of their homes and lifestyle. "Even though you may lose everything materially, you can make it if you uplift your mind and spirit," said Dr. Carlton Young.
After losing his job, Young found himself homeless with his teenage son. That was almost 10 years ago, but he can still remember how financial upheaval can change a person's life almost overnight. Young, a retired 22-year, decorated Marine, was working for the Federal Aviation Administration when he suddenly went from actively thriving to barely surviving while living out of his car in metro Atlanta, GA. "I learned a lot about 'those' people," said Young, "while living on the streets." He has chronicled his life on the streets in a new book titled "From Home to Homeless to Success." He says those people, or the homeless, are not all bad. "They need renewed hope just like those who have recently lost their homes," says Young.
Historically, homelessness has affected those who had already lived at or near the poverty line or those who struggled with substance abuse or mental illness. Today, as home foreclosures loom, some everyday working Americans may find themselves among the expanding homeless population. Young says he plans to equip those who have recently lost their homes and those currently facing loss by speaking at charitable organizations around the country who help people in distress.
Young will be a guest on Allwrite Radio at www.blogtalkradio.com/allwrite on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at 10 a.m. EST. People can hear him explain how he lost everything and how both he has and others can overcome and come back from anything. Call in at (347) 539-5403.
