FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - The Writers Movement announces their first literary release.

New Author Benjamin Jones brings a new take on the classic vampire tale in his debut novel H.U.B. - Humanity's Ultimate Battle Volume 1.

LITTLE ELM, TX, August 01, 2010 /Books PR News/ -- H.U.B. - Humanity's Ultimate Battle Volume 1 is the first in an epic series exploring what happens when the world finds out that vampires do in fact exist and walk amongst us.

Set in a modern day world, H.U.B. Volume 1 deals with the initial introduction of the relationship between vampires and humans when vampires decide to step out of the shadows and seek to take their place as peaceful members of society. This fragile truce is threatened to be disrupted when a rogue faction of vampires decide that they want things to be like they were in the good ol' days, when humans were simply food, threatening to pit humans and vampires into a cataclysmic war on who should be on top of the food chain. Per author John H. Bell, H.U.B. Volume 1 is "abundant with elements sorely lacking in today's Vampire fiction - namely a gritty, dark edge with social relevance."

What started off as a simple joking conversation between Benjamin Jones and illustrator Justin Taylor one day over lunch quickly blossomed into the H.U.B. series. What Benjamin Jones wanted to do was take the Vampire series and 1) take it back to the original blood thirsty vampires that didn't have anything to do with romance and 2) provide a fresh take on the subject by showing how vampires have "evolved" from what we've always known them to be.
H.U.B. has something for everyone, be them vampire fans or not. Not only is horror represented nicely but it also deals with politics, loss, revenge, the need to fit in, what happens when people fear what they don't understand, and the lengths they will go to get what they want.

The H.U.B. series continues with Volume 2: Blowback on 10.29.10, picking up right where Volume 1, raising the bar with action taking place on a global scale, returning characters who's intentions are starting to be shown, and new characters to enrich the world of H.U.B. Stay tuned!

About Author Benjamin Jones
Benjamin Jones was born in Greeneville, TN but currently resides in Little Elm, TX with his wife, two daughters, two dogs, and one cat. Benjamin has been writing for close to 15 years while working various 9-5 jobs but, all the while, finding time to keep the writing the main priority and always trying to hone his craft. Through fellow author Tiffanie Minnis, author of the upcoming novel ~D.I.V.A.~ Domestically Involved in Violent Affairs, joined the writing community Writers Movement which is an online site for writers and aspiring authors to meet for chat, exchange of knowledge, ideas, support, and promotion.

Raised off of horror movies and seeing the recent glut of vampire books/movies/TV shows, inspired Benjamin Jones, along with illustrator Justin Taylor, to come up with the idea for H.U.B. - Humanity's Ultimate Battle to take vampires back to the time when they weren't focused so much towards the teen audience and instead to the time when they were feared and only wanted blood. H.U.B. Volume 1 is currently available right now with H.U.B. Volume 2: Blowback is due to be released on 10.29.10 just in time for Halloween.

Benjamin is available for convention visits/speaking engagements, print, radio and web interviews as well as guest blog postings. To schedule an interview or speaking engagement you can contact him at ben@whatishub.net

Reviews for H.U.B. Volume 1
• 5 Star Amazon Kindle review by Clayton from New Brighton, MN:
I took a chance with this novel after visiting [...] and expected it to be just another vampire story due to the seemingly endless amount coming out now-a-days. Luckily I was wrong and this one stands with the best. This book features quite a few twists to keep the reader on their toes. Don't expect your average vampire book... This one goes way beyond that and creates its own rules that all work very well! I wish I could go into more detail on what I liked but that would give away spoilers. While I recommend it to anyone, keep in mind this book is gritty and sophisticated. Not for the tame or teen girls thinking it's something along the lines of Twilight. It's a very good read! Highly recommended!

Ben Jones and Justin Taylor re-launched their graphic novel H.U.B. Humanity's Ultimate Battle Volume 1 on 7/2/2010. I would encourage everyone to visit the novels' website at www.whatishub.net to download your FREE copy today! I must say that I was never a fan of vampires but H.U.B. has introduced me to a new liking for vampires in a different light. This novel is filled with action, fear, blood gushing, political views and illusions that will make you scrutinize the way we view those that surrounds us. I was hooked from the beginning and didn't want the story to end. This isn't your typical vampire blood sucking story. If you are bitten, you are ripped to shreds, broken in half and only your limbs were left to be identified by family members. It is set in a modern day society so it gives you a sense of a possible "true" reality. If you are into vampires, this is a great book to check out. Even if you aren't, like I was, I guarantee your mind will be changed. So visit the site and download your copy NOW!!

• Review from Mark Horrobin from London
H.U.B. Volume 1 is an action packed, hard hitting on the edge of your seat story that makes the TV series 'True Blood' look like child's play compared to the gruesome scenes and storylines that H.U.B. brings. SPOILER: One of the storylines is about the White House being divided by a human President & a Vice President who is a Vampire. In your mind, you know that is a combination waiting to blow up with devastating effects. END SPOILER. Vol. 1, which delves into the starting point of the relationship between Vampires & Humans, really does leave you wondering if this could be true in real life. We are introduced to a certain number of characters in Vol. 1 and are left wondering what will happen next...

An Excerpt from H.U.B. Humanity's Ultimate Battle - Volume 1

As they went on about their mundane tasks, trying to keep their mind occupied, all heads turned toward the sound of a ferry, the M/S Black Magic, as it approached the island. This wasn't good. Watching with tense eyes and stiffened bodies, all of them having been through this before and all knowing that there were only two reasons why it would be coming - either it was going to be a drop off or, God forbid, a pickup.

The stern of the ferry stopped just short of the beach and a ramp began to slowly descent, splashing down in the water and digging into the sand. The door to the hull opened and an all too familiar site greeted those on the beach. The darkened cargo hold consisted of close to two hundred people, all shading their eyes from the glaring rays of the sun as it flooded in and temporarily blinded them. The whirring mechanical sound of the back wall extending outward could be heard as it forced those in the cargo hold to exit, their feel sloshing through the water and landing on the smoky-grey colored quartz that made up the sand. They were a varied crew - a mixture of young and old; black, white, Mexican, and everything in between; short and tall; some with physical injuries with others only being mentally devastated by what they've gone through - but they all shared the same shell-shocked look on their faces.

The last set of feet exited the ferry at which point the ramp and the wall were retracted. The hull closed and the ferry drifted back out into the ocean, leaving it's cargo behind until they were needed. Some on the beach rushed down to embrace and help the new arrivals, taking them by the hand and leading them up the shore to their new home or, as they referred to this place, their prison.

Suggested Interview Questions

• Please tell a little about yourself.
My name is Benjamin Jones. I am 33 years old with a wife and two daughters aged 16 and 10. I was born in Greeneville, TN but I currently reside in Little Elm, TX which is about 30 minutes north of Dallas. I work as a database team lead for a food brokerage company by day but moonlight as a writer.

• When did you know you wanted to become a writer and when did you begin to write?
I knew that writing was what I wanted to do right around the time I turned 18. I started initially writing screenplays as I was (and continue to be) fascinated by Spike Lee. I eventually turned to novels as it allowed me more of a chance to get my voice heard and allowed more creative freedom.

• What is the name of your book?
H.U.B. Humanity's Ultimate Battle - Volume 1 & Volume 2: Blowback

• What motivated you to write it?
I was motivated by books/films such as Twilight that, though immensely popular, I felt strayed from what vampires are, which are grimy, blood loving carnivores that have nothing to do with romance.

• Is there a specific message in your book that you want readers to grasp?
If there is a message in H.U.B. is that you should not fear things that are different/you don't understand. You could substitute vampires with illegal immigrants in the book and still have the same story (minus the fangs and things of that nature) of a race/group of people that want nothing more than to live their lives and be left alone.

• How long did it take you to complete the book?
The book flew by in a matter of 3 months from initial idea to finished product. Writing it just felt good and it flowed nicely so I was able to complete it pretty fast. Volume 1 is out now and Volume 2 will be available on 10.29.10.

• What genre(s) do you write?
I dabble in a little bit of all genres - I don't want to be the type of author that's pigeon-holed into one thing and that's it. I want to hit the readers with something new every time I drop a book.

• How do you balance your family, writing, business, and other obligations that you have?
I try to fit writing in anyway that I can. I get some writing done during my lunch breaks at work, sometimes in the mornings if I get up before the rest of the family, or late at night. Anytime I can fit it in then that's what I do.

• How have your loved ones supported you in your writing ventures? What are their feelings?
My wife has been extremely supportive and other members of my family have expressed a very little bit of interest but not as much as I would like for them, too.

• So tell us about your road to publication.
I'm all about self-publishing right now. Though it's awesome to have a publishing house behind you and be able to get them behind you promotion wise I like having the freedom to put my books out when I'm ready to do it and be able to keep more of the profits.

• What advice would you give to an aspiring writer?
WRITE, WRITE, and WRITE some more. Also, find yourself a group for support/networking - it never hurts to have a strong team behind you that's rooting for you to succeed.

• So, what's next for you as an author?
After H.U.B. Volume 2: Blowback is released on 10.29.10 I have my upcoming novel Head Above Water as well as a Writers Movement collaboration novel and H.U.B. Volume 3. Gotta keep riding the momentum and staying in the public eye.

How can readers contact you and find your books?

Closing Message from Benjamin Jones

I hope that the H.U.B. series will entertain you and allow you an escape from your daily grind. There are many more volumes to come as I continue on with this epic series as well as a few surprises. Over the coming year I, along with some members of my family and team, will be taking H.U.B. to comic conventions across the country and hope that I'm able to see and interact with some of the fans that I have created.
Keep following me on this grand adventure and I promise that you won't be disappointed.
Much love and thanks for your support.
