Jean Anderson Embree Featured in Cambridge Who's Who Industry Experts Book

SAN JOSE, CA, January 19, 2010 /Books PR News/ -- Jean Anderson Embree, Author for Wordworks Publishers and Adjunct Professor of English for Evergreen Valley College, was recently featured in Cambridge Publishing's Top 101 Industry Experts book. The Top Industry Experts reveals the objectives and triumphs prominent Cambridge members have achieved to gain success. Selected from more than 500,000 executives, professionals and entrepreneurs, these exemplary leaders stay at the top of their fields by possessing unique experience and wisdom, all the while exhibiting innovation in their work.

Jean Anderson Embree is an adjunct professor of English at Evergreen Valley College, where she has taught most of the existing writing, grammar and communications courses. She is also the author of the book "Practical English Grammar: A Sentence-To-Paragraph Approach," which was published by Mayfield-McGraw-Hill in 1996, and the April 2008 release "Young Heart Songs," which features 36 of her sonnets and 30 pages of illustrations by young people. "I chose young artists from Sacramento's Easter Seals daycare program," she explains, "and wrote on such topics as pets, school, work, games, nature, travel, holidays, and world peace."

Although she recently turned 84, Ms. Embree continues to teach and publish regularly, and take new courses to remain current in her profession. She hails from a family of teachers and writers who inspired her to pursue a similar career path. She attributes her success to persistence, personal drive, passion for her profession and the support she received from her family. Her efforts have been recognized by many peers who consider her a valuable resource in her industry, as well as by the San Jose Mercury News, which featured her in its widely read Doer's Profile section. She is very active in her San Jose Unitarian Church and in several political organizations.

Ms. Embree, who has taught at various adult-level schools for 41 years, received a Master of Arts in English from San Jose State University and a Bachelor of Arts in English, with a minor in Psychology (magna cum laude), from the University of California, Berkeley. She is a member of the Young Rhetoricians' Conference, the International Association for the Fantastic in the Arts, Health Care for All, the TYCO Association, and the FTA Union.

In 1999, Ms. Embree received her online educator certification via WebCT and began teaching online courses. She believes it is an invaluable way for average people to obtain a higher education because they are able to bring enrichment tools into their homes. "There are people who may have children or aging relatives whom they must care for," she says, "or they might have an irregular work schedule, and need more flexibility in the time they devote to learning. Online education affords them the opportunity to pursue their goals."

Ms. Embree is the mother of four and grandmother of more than a dozen, including step-grandchildren, all of whom make her very proud.
