Sandra Gail Cumings Malamed's extensive education contributes to her success

/Books PR News/ -- LOS ANGELES, CA, January 4, 2010, Sandra Gail Cumings Malamed, Senior Vice President of First Western Trust Bank, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in curatorial work.

As Senior Vice President of First Western Trust Bank, Sandra Gail Cumings Malamed is responsible for overseeing administrative and marketing functions, researching the banking industry, and developing the business by identifying clients in need of loans. She became involved in her profession because of her experience working with Bank of America, and she attributes her success to her personal sense of responsibility.

Mrs. Malamed has become one of the foremost leaders in Colonial Jewish History and has lectured throughout the country at various historical societies, museums and private organizations, as well as serving as a scholar-in-residence to many synagogues. She has also written a book focusing on Jewish colonial history, entitled "The Jews in Early America: A Chronicle of Good Taste and Good Deeds." She has served as a curator at the American Jewish Historical Society in Waltham, Massachusetts, the Skirball Museum in Los Angeles, California, Hebrew Union College, and many other institutions. She has done research on synagogues, cemetaries, museums, archives and historical houses of the first communities of American Jews, including New Amsterdam, Newport, Charleston, Philadelphia Savannah, Richmond, Williamsburg, Norfolk, Charlottesville, Lancaster, Boston and Warrenton. Mrs. Malamed has also conducted extensive research in the history of Portuguese and Spanish people who have Jewish roots. She is in the process of publishing a book based on the inquisition with interviews of people who although identify as following Catholic tradition, have roots that lead them back to Judaism. The book will focus on how these ties were broken by the Catholic church of Spain and Portugal.

In 1963, Mrs. Malamed received her Bachelor's Degree in English and Speech with a minor in Italian from the University of California, Los Angeles. She studied Decorative Arts at the Museum of American China Trade in Milton, Massachusetts and at the Peabody Museum in Salem, Massachusetts.
