Miracles, Faith, and What Christmas is Really about

Author's glimpse into the past reminds readers of simple joys of Christmas.

MANNING, AB CANADA December 10, 2010 /Books PR News/ -- In the weeks between Black Friday and Christmas, crazed shoppers flood the malls in search of sales that will help them cross off items on their ever-expanding wish lists. Holiday consuming has reached a fever pitch, and it's estimated that hundreds of billions of dollars are spent on Christmas in North America alone. Amidst this spending fervor, it's almost impossible to remember what Christmas is really about.
But Beverly Lein's book The Three Saints of Christmas aims to help you change that. This sweet and endearing book places you smack dab in the middle of a 19th century country Christmas - and all of the simplicity, appreciation and even danger that comes with it. When two parents choose to leave their young children and nieces in the care of their eldest daughter so that they can make the dangerous journey to town to get supplies for the holidays, no one could've predicted the harrowing journey ahead of them. Then a terrible accident befalls the adults on the road, and the children are forced to fend for themselves. They soon realize that running a farm and keeping themselves alive is easier said than done.
This is a story of strength, determination, and faith. It elegantly and simply reminds us that the true joys of Christmas are not the brightly wrapped packages under the tree, but the smiles, laughter and love of the people around us. "I would hope my readers will find a feeling of family love, togetherness, and caring. I hope that as they read the story, thoughts of their own family would linger," says Lein. In fact, the book itself is a family collaboration. "Just before Christmas a few years ago, I became deathly sick and ended up in the hospital for about three weeks. My grandchildren were mortified - they had never seen me sick, let alone on bed rest and they were bored, so I decided we should write a Christmas story," she recalls.
The Three Saints of Christmas is available through Inkwater Press, Amazon and bookstores across Canada. Visit Beverly's website at http://beverlylein.wordpress.com/ and view her media kit at http://beverlylein.wordpress.com/media-room/
