Andre J. Garant Honored for Excellence in Children's Fiction
Andre J. Garant is Dedicated to Turning Boys into Avid Readers
VERNON, CT, February 22, 2010 /Books PR News/ -- Andre J. Garant, Author, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of children's fiction.
Motivated by a desire to encourage children - especially boys - to read, Andre J. Garant decided to turn his writing hobby into a full-time career. Now a popular children's author, he has since published 17 books, most of which feature protagonists involved in sports such as basketball, football, ice hockey, karate, baseball, soccer and skateboarding. His bestselling books remain to be his first, "I'm Gonna Win," and its sequel "Slam Dunk," which chronicle the adventures of a talented but stubborn 11-year-old basketball player, and "Slap Shot" and "Slap Shot II: Florida Vacation," which tell the story of the mischievous, hockey-playing Thibault twins. Mr. Garant derives deep personal fulfillment from making avid readers out of boys who, as a general rule, do not read as many books as girls. He attributes his success to his dedication to his profession.
In addition to his work as an author, Mr. Garant serves as accounting manager of HealthWise Medical Associates, LLP. Charged with overseeing the operating budget and accounting staff, he prepares financial statements for eight physicians, performs payroll functions, and processes accounts payable and receivable. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, with a minor in French, in 1991 from Saint Michael's College. In five years, he aspires to rise to the position of chief financial officer.
